Lets talk firstly of what constitutes a small bathroom, while this may be in the eye of the beholder there are some definite qualities that classify your bathroom as small and thus this blog worth of your attention. These can include- Limited amenities, perhaps just a toilet and sink
- The full list of amenities but not the room to fit them all, seeing the shower and the bath becoming one. A larger size would naturally result in a more expansive setup than the ones above an thus we can consider these the features of small bathrooms. First up is the obvious; space savers.
- Where the door opens is of crucial importance as we are already constricted. In fact fire regulations deem it more than important, it’s mandatory that if you were, say, to faint, that the door would still be able to be opened.
- Do not use bulky vanities, you may improve the space by opting for a sink without any storage capability (cantilevered or pedestal)
- Make it “feel bigger” with mirrors and bright colours
- If storage is necessary then do not neglect the ceiling space, have your storage reach as high as possible
- Believe it or not there are “compact toilets” at your disposal
- Consider having the entire bathroom as a shower, that is, no shower screen. While we have no doubt experienced this more at the hand of neglect at one time or other (backpackers unite!) it can actually be used to effect a stunning small bathroom.
